BCT Wins Cricket Tasmania’s Community Partnership of the Year Award

April 16th 2022

Receiving Cricket Tasmania’s Community Partnership of the Year Award is amazing recognition for all those who’ve worked passionately in collaboration to establish this statewide initiative over the last 2 years. Thanks to Will Thompson from CT who presented the Award Certificate to Vaughn Bennison BCT’s Community Ambassador at their offices at Blundstone Arena.

IIT CEO Phillip ‘Sunny’ Drury gave credit to the many individuals, partners, supporters, donors and players who believed in the BCT vision for both a statewide participation program, and a pathway to state team representation. Sunny went on to say how the program has attracted broad interest;

“BCT is receiving both local and national recognition now for how professionally and inclusively we’ve approached the program’s development frameworks, its culture and implementation for the mutual benefit of all involved. This Award is shared between all those who passionately believe that the blind and visually impaired community deserved the opportunity to chase their dreams in the sport of their choosing”

The development squad is now undertaking high-performance and competition simulation training in readiness for the National Cricket Inclusion Championships in 2023.

On the back of our state Award, CA has selected BCT as 1 of only 2 finalists in their national Community Partnerships Award category. The prestigious event is held online in mid May 2022. We’re excited and honored to be selected amongst such a diverse group of committed cricket loving people from across the country.
