BCT recently held two sessions at the Mt Nelson and West Hobart grounds. The Sports Minister, Nic Street (pictured below), attended and played his part in wicketkeeping and wearing the visual impairment simulation glasses to experience the game.
We also had SA and VIC state team player Dean Calder (also pictured below) join us to share his valuable advice and have fun testing his skills against our developing players. Thanks Dean, your positive and collaborative nature really helped us all to understand more of what it’s like to play for your state and compete at the highest level.
World Blind Cricket Classifications
We now have the guiding information for Ophthalmologists to ascertain our player’s competition qualifications. The process determines a classification against specific international standards criteria. If your rating fits within those rules, then a player can join a team of 11 that’s made up of ‘B1’: totally Blind (4 players) – ‘B2’: 5% vision (3 players) – ‘B3’:10% vision (4 players).
Player’s gear fundraiser.
We’re hoping to raise $4,000 to cover the cost of the Team’s training and competition playing gear. Any level of support is much appreciated – access the easy donation facility in the main menu. Thank you!
