Our organisation (IIT)

Blind Cricket Tasmania is the state’s largest sporting program of its type, managed by Inclusive Innovations Tasmania (IIT), who are a unique 100% volunteer NFP entity governed by an independent board.

Inclusive Innovations Tasmania

Inclusive Innovations Tasmania exists to make inclusion mainstream. They provide the governance, structures and management that underpins Blind Cricket Tasmania.

As a business, they dedicate resources to think up, facilitate, or deliver ideas that will improve accessibility in Tasmania.

The word that best describes Inclusive Innovations Tasmania is ‘catalyst’.

IIT aims to sustain Blind Cricket Tasmania well into the future, with the appropriate structures and governance for success before transitioning the ownership to a working committee with independent Association status.

Goals

We’re not just developing a blind cricket program for Tasmania, we’re developing a framework that will help make establishing, accessing, and managing more visually impaired sports programs across the state easier.

Over the next 3 years, we will:

1

Increase awareness of BCT by implementing an integrated media campaign across Tasmania to get more people involved in the program.

2

Increase participation numbers across Tasmania, with a goal of running fortnightly sessions statewide by 2024.

3

Develop a coaching program, creating a formal accreditation for blind cricket, and increasing inclusive sport coaching capacity in the state.

4

Make history in partnership with ACT Blind Cricket, with a dual TAS/ACT team competing in the 2022 National Cricket Inclusion Championships for the first time.

5

Ensure that the future guardians of Blind Cricket Tasmania have the tools to promote the sport, and engage with key stakeholders and organisations, government, media and the wider mainstream community.

6

Achieve transitioning Blind Cricket Tasmania to an independent, self-governed Association by 2025.
